Is this the world’s highest mileage Ferrari 599?

Don’t think people drive their supercars? This one’s clocked up nearly 270,000km!

The dirty little secret of supercar ownership is that nobody actually drives them that much.

The vast majority only clock a few thousand kilometers before being sold on to the next waiting buyer to flaunt briefly on the cobblestones of JBR. Driving a supercar everyday makes little sense when service costs in excess of AED20,000 a visit; most owners also have a more comfy Range Rover sitting elsewhere in the garage for ‘getting about’. Supercars are a strictly a weekend or special occasion affair.

Kudos then to this anonymous Ferrari owner from France, who’s clocked up an eye-popping 264,500km on his 2007 599GTB Fiorano. That’s nearly three-quarters of the way to the moon. Or put things into a local perspective, going back and forth to Abu Dhabi every day for two and a half years…in a Ferrari! The ad on LaCentrale is short on detail, but it appears to be a one-owner example with full service history. Bet that’s one impressive stack of receipts. To the owner’s credit, it appears surprisingly clean in the pictures (but then you’d expect a Ferrari owner to be able to afford a decent valet).

The car’s priced at €59,900, equal to AED304,000, certainly the lowest price I’ve ever seen a 599. Remember, this is a bonafide 612bhp supercar that originally retailed well in excess of a million dirhams. But before you rush out to check the price of shipping to the GCC….just remember, there’s no such thing as a cheap supercar. With their insanely-complicated electrics and 12 – count ’em – cylinders, there’s bound to be something that goes wrong, for which you will pay a princely sum for getting the correct part with the prancing horse badge.

And it isn’t even the highest mileage supercar in the world. This one, belonging to EVO contributor Simon George is: 415,000+ km on a Murcielago.
