MME 3rd Meet was Massive!
Report and pictures from our Meet yesterday
For the third MME meet (our eighth Meet if you combine it with the previous five under the CAR Middle East banner) we moved to a completely new venue, the Sharjah Old Cars Club, next to the Sharjah Airport.
After a slow start to the day, precisely between 3:30pm and 3:45pm the floodgates seemed to open and an avalanche of cars descended on the venue. Quickly filling up both perimeters of the large circle just within the gates, things started to get really tight once the UAE Mustang Club made their spectacular arrival bringing 15 cars in just their group!
In total we estimated over 90 cars attended with around 150 people at our first Meet of 2012 over the course of the day. For many it was the first visit to the club and museum, and people were bowled over by the excellent facilities offered to classic car owners and enthuisiasts.
The Club proved to be incredibly gracious hosts to the meet, laying on refreshments and drinks for the participants, and opening up the club house for their use. A big shout-out therefore to Ahmed Al Jarwan of the Sharjah Old Cars Club and also Kawthar Ben Sulayem who did an amazing job of helping us organising this meet.
They even organised a police-escorted parade through Sharjah for club members and participants who wanted to take part, over an hour after Asr prayers. Meanwhile cars continued to gather at the Sharjah Old Cars Club and Museum, fortunately the overspill car park outside the gates was big enough to accommodate everyone.
Additional thanks to the Honda S2000 gang, the Mitsubishi guys, the MINI Club Dubai and of course the great folk at JACCK, in addition to many others!
